For a pool fence installer, choosing a product to represent is about more than comparing mesh, posts and wholesale prices. The manufacturer behind that product becomes part of your business.
When an installer encounters an unusual pool deck, a customer requests something outside the normal product offering, or a dealer sees an opportunity in the market, having direct access to the people who actually make the product can matter.
At Baby Barrier®, that’s something we’re particularly proud of.
The Removable Pool Fence Started Here
The removable mesh pool safety fence wasn’t an existing industry when Baby Barrier began.
In 1963, a Florida grandfather was looking for a practical way to help keep his young grandsons safer around his swimming pool. The solution he developed became the original removable pool safety fence—and created a product category that has since been adopted around pools throughout the United States and around the world.
More than six decades later, Baby Barrier is still here.
That history means something to us, and we believe it means something to the dealers who represent our product.
A Baby Barrier dealer isn’t simply selling another pool fence. They’re able to tell customers that the product they’re installing comes from the company that pioneered the concept more than 60 years ago.
In a competitive market, that’s a pretty useful tool to have in the arsenal.
Still Made by Hand in the USA
Baby Barrier pool fencing is still made by hand in the United States.
Our fencing uses reinforced structural aluminum posts, UV-resistant PVC-coated mesh and quality hardware selected to withstand years of exposure around swimming pools.
Manufacturing domestically isn’t simply something we put on a label. It gives us direct control over the product we’re sending into the field.
We know how our fences are built. We know the materials that go into them. And when one of our dealers calls with a question, they’re talking to people connected directly to the product—not someone several layers removed from an overseas factory.
Sometimes a Dealer Needs Something That Isn’t in the Catalog
Pools aren’t standardized products.
Decks have unusual angles. Customers have unusual requests. Installers encounter conditions nobody anticipated when an order was placed.
That’s where being a hands-on American manufacturer can make a difference.
Because we manufacture Baby Barrier ourselves, we have the ability to work directly with our dealers when something unusual comes up. If a dealer needs a special configuration, has an unusual application or simply has an idea that might help solve a customer’s problem, we can have that conversation with the people who actually build the product.
We can’t promise that every idea is possible, but we can promise that we’re willing to listen.
Some of the best improvements in any product come from the people installing and using it every day. Our dealers aren’t simply customers placing orders with us. They’re our connection to homeowners and to what is actually happening in the field.
Your Product Becomes Part of Your Reputation
An installer puts his or her name behind every completed job.
That’s why product quality matters differently to a dealer than it does to a manufacturer selling through an anonymous distribution chain. If something doesn’t fit correctly, doesn’t perform as expected or doesn’t hold up, it’s the local dealer whose customer calls.
We understand that.
Our job as the manufacturer is to give Baby Barrier dealers a product they can be proud to put their own reputation behind—and to be available when they need help.
That relationship has allowed independent Baby Barrier dealers to build businesses around a product whose history goes back more than 60 years.
More Than a Product to Install
The pool safety fence business can be attractive to contractors, entrepreneurs and existing home-service companies because it combines a specialized product with a straightforward local service: helping families create an additional barrier around their swimming pools.
But the product matters.
So does the story behind it.
Baby Barrier dealers can walk into a customer’s backyard representing an American-made product from the company that invented the removable pool safety fence in 1963.
They can explain why the product is built the way it is. They can show customers an established brand with decades of history. And when they encounter something unusual, they have a manufacturer they can actually call.
We think those things still matter.
